Some eye conditions that affect the cornea can reduce the effectiveness of traditional soft contact lenses and glasses. These conditions include corneal injuries, keratoconus, neurotrophic keratitis, and severe dry eyes, to name a few. Dr. Christensen has advanced training and experience in designing hard contact lenses for his patients with these complex eye conditions, and is dedicated to taking the necessary time to help his patients maximize their visual performance.
Dr. Christensen loves to care for his pediatric patients. Did you know that the American Optometric Association recommends your child have their eyes checked by 12 months old? Children should have another examination between the ages of 3 and 5, and yearly comprehensive eye exams thereafter. These annual visits are crucial to monitor for and treat eye conditions that can have long-term effects on your child’s vision such as amblyopia, high myopia, strabismus, focusing problems, and many others.
Progressive juvenile myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is a growing epidemic. Dr. Christensen is committed to spreading awareness of treatments to reduce progression of nearsightedness in children. Dr. Christensen has helped many children slow their myopia and reduce their dependence on glasses with orthokeratology lenses.
